Synthwave sensation The Midnight to play in Nagaland on February 22

The Midnight, from the USA, will be playing Nagaland on February 22. Made up of singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and Danish-born producer Tim Mcewan, The Midnight promises to transport concert-goers to the nostalgic vibe of the 80s with their synthwave revival. 

Livenow Events, which is bringing the duo to Nagaland, said that The Midnight will touch down at the Noune Resort on February 22 as part of the northeast leg of its India tour. 

Atsung Jamir, Director of Livenow Events told a press conference today that the concert will be an intimate affair playing to a crowd of 3000-4000.

Lyle and Mcewan formed The Midnight in 2012 has steadily garnered a worldwide following playing to sold out shows in the USA and UK. With over 1.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 200,000 on Apple Music and more than 100 million views on YouTube, the Midnight is regarded as a driving force in the synthwave revival. Their music has also featured on the Netflix series Stranger Things and the American television series Cobra Kai.  

The concert will be supported by local acts Trance Effect and Tune Up Channel and DJ NIDA. Trance Effect is an independent pop-rock group from Dimapur, Nagaland, known for their lively rhythms and already has an EP under their belt. Tune UP Channel is a synthwave/pop-rock ensemble from Nagaland, formed in 2015. NIDA, a groundbreaking Delhi-based DJ, music curator and designer, with her explosive energy and innovative beats has played major festivals and international venues. 

While tickets are available offline in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Kohima, Mokokchung, Wokha and Diphu, Jamir said that it can be bought online at SkillBox and My TV Shows. The tickets are priced at Rs 2,400.  

The gates to the venue will open by 4:00-5:00 pm offering the attendees amble time to explore the event grounds and enjoy the festivities. Food stalls will also be set up at the event venue. The support acts will take the stage by 6:00 pm. Following which the headlining act will play a 90-minute set.
