Even as its state-wide indefinite agitation entered second day on Wednesday, the All Nagaland PWD Field Worker’s Association (ANPWDFWA) PWD (R&B) Housing and National Highway (NH) has informed that it has decided to temporarily suspend the agitation as the government has assured to fulfil its demands.

When contacted over phone, ANPWDFWA president K Atovi Awomi told Nagaland Post that the state government has assured to complete verification and submit the report before February 14, 2022.
Therefore, he said the association has decided to temporarily suspend the agitation.

ANPWDFWA president, however, cautioned that if the government failed to fulfil its assurance, the association would intensify agitation.

Meanwhile, ANPWDFWA informed that as part of indefinite agitation the work-charged employees of housing-I Kohima central division Kohima, NCC, estate and construction staged protest at engineer-in-chief NPWD office complex Kohima.

The association stated that agitation on Wednesday was held peacefully with full support extended by all work-charged employees under NPWD Kohima and all the divisions and sub-divisions under NPWD.

The association has appealed to all the unit presidents, secretaries, advisors and representatives to ANPWDFWA stay together so they could raise their demand with one voice in a democratic way.

Dimapur: Members of ANPWDFWA Dimapur unit, who also joined the agitation on February 1, locked the PWD office and staged sit-in protest outside the office gate.

ANPWDFWA Dimapur unit president Aso Chang told Nagaland Post that work-charge employees were going through untold misery due to non-payment of salaries.

Chang said the indefinite agitation would continue until the state government released the pending salaries.

He, however, added the unit would wait for the directives of the ANPWDFWA central body.

Asked about the next phase of agitation, Chang said that it depended on the call from ANPWDFWA. He, however, suggested that the association could even restrict movement of vehicles on national highway. It may be mentioned that IRB personnel were deployed at the protest site.

Aboi: PWD field workers of Aboi unit Wednesday staged demonstration outside office of SDO PWD (R&B) Aboi division over non-payment of salary.
ANPWDFWA Aboi division president Sholem Konyak urged the state government to release their pending salary and also consider the regularization of service of present employees. The association stated that office of SDO PWD (R&B) Aboi division would remain closed until the department released their salary.
