Union Minister Arjun Munda visits Kiphire; Urges department heads to put more effort in road, health and education sectors

Aspirational District is the concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfill the dream of the nation “to develop most backward districts in the country for overall progress,” said Union Minister for Tribal affairs, Arjun Munda while addressing the head of departments in Kiphire on April 26. During his maiden visit to the district, the union minister held a meeting at DC’s conference hall.

Calling upon the officers, Munda stated that to achieve the dream of the country, “we should all be part of it, wherever we are placed” and “development should reach the grassroots level.”

Taking part in the discussion, the minister said, “Road, health and education are some of the most important indicator of development for every citizen” and asked the department concerned to put more effort to bring change in this sector as well.

Encouraging the officers to work for the growth and progress of the district, Mandu said, “we are here in the district personally to listen and to help, assist if there is anything we can do” and asked the department heads to share the challenges hampering development.

Taking note of the non-availability of Ops & Gynecologist and less manpower in the health sector, Munda assured to apprise the State Chief Minister on this matter.

Minister for Soil & Water Conservation and Geology & Mining, V Kashiho Sangtam shared grievances faced by the people of Kiphire district. He also submitted four development proposals to the visiting union minister for establishment of EMRS at New monger, construction of hostel at ITI Kiphire, Entic showroom at Yingphir and marketing shed at Mimi international trade centre.

PowerPoint presentations were given by Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B), District Welfare Officer, Executive Engineer, PHED, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer, Water Resources, Project Director, DRDA, District Agriculture Officer, District Sericulture Officer and District Administration.

The District Education Officer, Pandey informed that out of 16 high schools in Kiphire, only two high schools have headmaster and the rest are functioning without headmaster. The DEO also informed that only 46% of schools have drinking water facilities and 83% have toilet facilities.

Earlier, the Union Minister also visited ongoing construction of Eklavya Model Residential School and laid the foundation stone for EKRS for Kiphire district. The project is funded by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and implemented by the Department of Tribal Affairs Government of India. He also visited the ongoing construction of ITI started in July 2020 and to be completed by 2022.

At the arrival of union minister, DEF, Kiphire displayed guard of honour and was received by the District Administration, Tribal hohos of Sangtam, Tikhir, Sumi, government officials, DBs, GBs, BJP party workers at helipad ground Kiphire. The Union Minister was accompanied by Joint Secretary MoTA, PPS and APS to Union Minister, AK, Singh, Commissioner & Secretary Tribal Affairs Department and other dignitaries.
