NSCN–K (Niki Group) puts focus on peace and unity in Naga society

Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): A delegation of Zeliangrong frontal organisations of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland called on the leaders of the NSCN –K (Niki group) in Dimapur on April 26.

A press release from the group’s MIP on Tuesday informed that the delegation which included officials of Zeliangrong Union (AMN), All Zeliangrong Students Union (AMN) and Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation, held a ‘fruitful and positive meeting’ with its President Niki Sumi and Ato Kilonser Starson Lamkang.

“The collective leadership reaffirmed its stand on peace and unity of all sections of the Naga society and reminded the tribal leaders that the NSCN/GPRN stands for unity first, solution second. The collective leadership reiterated that Naga people of all Naga inhabited area must be one in spirit and in deeds and seek the inherent rights of the people,” the MIP release stated.

The collective leadership is also said to have urged the tribal leaders to continue to strive for united Nagas, pointing out that leaders of the Naga civil societies have a crucial role to play to bring the Naga people for one common goal.

The Zeliangrong delegation expressed their solidarity on Naga people’s desire for peace and unity among the Nagas irrespective of boundary demarcation and for solution to age-old Naga political struggle and assured the leadership of all possible cooperation towards the betterment of the Naga people, the MIP release stated.

Besides Niki Sumi and Starson Lamkang, Deputy C-in-C, NSCN/GPRN Mansi Kamei spoke at the meeting that was chaired by Inovi Naga, Secretary to the NSCN/GPRN, it said. The meeting concluded with a vote thanks proposed by Zheshito Swu, Kilo Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN and benediction pronounced by Mhonbemo Tsangnlao, Speaker, National Tatar Hoho, NSCN/GPRN, the MIP stated.
