Nagaland Crime Data 2021 released

Chümoukedima, August 30 (MExN): Director General of Police T John Longkumer, on August 26, inaugurated the Nagaland Police Referral Hospital (NPRH) extension and commissioned an 850LMP Oxygen Plant at Police Complex, followed by DGP Commendation Disc Award Ceremony and release of Crime Data 2021 at Rhododendron Hall, Chümoukedima.

According to a delayed report from the state DIPR received on Monday, speaking during the inaugural, the DGP said that the extension of NPRH was taken up during the crucial COVID crisis meant for COVID-19 patients. However, since COVID-19 cases have now come down with the additional medical assistance, it was decided to make it a medical service of excellence for the Police Department.

Having the ideal location, the Police Department has decided to tie up and signed MoU with the Dimapur Referral Hospital, he added. He further acknowledged the officers and medical team for joining hands to bring solution to the Government and to provide service to the needy. He thanked the entire team who had worked hard by putting an effort and sacrificing their time and living up to the motto “Service, Security and Sacrifices.”

First crime data book
During the release of the 1st Nagaland Crime data, DGP Longkumer acknowledged and appreciated all the officers who were involved in the compilation of the data. He stated that Crime Data Book is a very important document which will be used for reference in the future, and will be helpful especially to the field officers when it comes to predictive and other aspects of crime analysis.

During the press conference with the media team, Limasunep Jamir, IGP (Range) highlighted that overview of law and order situation in the State continues to be peaceful and it has been reflected in the denotification of 15 police stations from the purview of AFPSA which has reposed faith in the State Police.

As per 2021 Crime Data, 1525 cases have been registered out of which, 765 cases have been chargesheeted, and pending investigation is 553, conviction rate is 179 which is on the trial case, the DIPR report stated.

Total number of persons arrested in 2021 was 1586 out of which 1515 were males and 71 were females.

He stated that significant achievements have been made particularly relating to extortion where a total of 260 cases have been registered all over the State and 297 persons have been arrested from various UG factions and civilians and also from various other NE States of UG groups. In NDPS cases, 295 cases were registered in 2021 and significant seizures have been made, contraband gold of 290 gold bars worth Rs 22.8 crore were seized by CID. In Armed Forces, 197 cases out of which, 139 arms were seized by the Police. Detection and recovery has been positive and laudable, and Nagaland Police assures to continue to combat crime, he stated.

The IGP further mentioned that the creation of four districts has very positive impact in law and order situations, especially in the Eastern districts of the State. He expressed that on positive note and leadership of the DGP, the Department continues to respond to any situation and crack more criminal cases, particularly the crime and rape cases, of which only eight cases have been reported.

As a result, Nagaland has been awarded the Best State in terms of Law and Order in Small State Category under India Today Conclave, he maintained.

He appealed to the larger civil societies, right thinking citizens to come forward and support the Police in maintaining law and order in the State, and to ensure that peace and tranquillity are maintained.

Earlier, DGP, T John Longkumer gave away the DGP Commendation Disc to 63 officers and personnel for their exemplary services.
