DLC meet on clean India prog

DIMAPUR , October 1: District Level Committee (DLC) meeting for the implementation of “Clean India programme” was held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima on September 30.

According to a DIPR report, state director in-charge, NYKS, John Makhabo highlighted the action plan of Clean India programme which would be launched from October 1-31.

He informed that the Clean India programme has been planned under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration with a view to mobilise the public to participate voluntarily in the nationwide drive of waste collection and disposal.

He said that the objectives were to organise activities to clean waste mainly single use of plastic, to organise in all 12 districts of Nagaland involving all segment of society, government organisations including PRIs and NGOs.

He also informed that the programme would be a people’s movement through “Jan Bhagidari” and propagate the mantra of “Clean India, Safe India”.

John Makhabo added that the programme would cover six lakh villages of 744 districts across the country in a month’s duration.
