Exporters’ conclave held in Mkg

DIMAPUR , September 28: Exporters’ conclave, organised by DIC Mokokchung and Industries and Commerce Department in collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) was held in Mokokchung on September 25.

According to a DIPR report, while speaking on the occasion as special guest, additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh said though the state was basically an agri dominated state, there was potential in the primary sectors.

He said that as of now, people were still conditioning from traditional to modern practice, but if they were to catch up with others, they would have to surplus the export.

The ADC said that in order to achieve this, they need to cover more area for production to increase the productivity.

He also said not everything could be exported, therefore they need to specialise and focus on few products.

Talking about schemes in different departments, Shashank said there should be convergence of schemes and integrated plans to export the unique production.

In this way, apart from generating economy we can create goodwill among the societies he added.

The second session was followed by knowledge sharing, where topics such as how to export, business prospects in agri products from Nagaland, prospects in coffee, business prospects in horticulture products from Nagaland and support schemes & financial assistance to new & existing entrepreneurs were discussed.

Resource persons were inspector DIC Mokokchung, Mhanbemo Kithan, deputy DAO department of agriculture, Dr. Lanunochetla, DPO, land resource department, Dr. Sashiyangba, Inspector department of horticulture, Recha Imchen and branch manager SBI bazar branch Mokokchung, Purwati.

Earlier, general manager DIC Mokokchung, Atula Lemtor delivered the welcome address and DIC Mokokchung functional manager, Talimeren proposed the vote of thanks.
