Fire breaks out at Longkong village

A fire broke out at Longkong village, approximately 20 kilometers away from Mokokchung District Headquarter on March 25 at around 12:30 am, completely gutting down 8 houses and partially damaging 4 houses. A press note from the Mokokchung Police informed that short circuit was suspected to be the cause of fire.

The fire reportedly started from an old couple’s home which was first noticed by their grandson.

There was no casualty and the worth of property damaged could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.

The fire incident report was received by the Fire Station at Mokokchung at around 1:00 am, however, before the fire engines reached the village, the volunteers in the village had already brought the fire under control, informed the police report.

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir and Superintendent of Police, Vishal also visited the incident site.

SDRF personnel and firefighters were also deployed to clear the debris.
