Gov calls for collective effort to make ‘health for all’ a reality

Nagaland’s Governor La Ganesan today inaugurated the newly constructed building of Botsa Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Health & Family Welfare Minister P Paiwang Konyak and other dignitaries.  

PHC Botsa, which lies around 40 km from Kohima, is an Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre.

Ganesan described the inauguration of the new building as a significant milestone in “our journey towards providing comprehensive health care to the people.”

Referring to Ayushman Bhavah Mela, which also took place today at PHC Botsa, Ganesan thanked the health & family welfare department and the village authorities for their tireless efforts in making the Mela a reality.

Ganesan said that the drive for health equality is the cornerstone of Ayushman Bhavah initiative, a name inspired from an age-old Sanskrit phrase that means “Long Live Life.”

“It is a commitment we have made to the welfare of our society,” he said and stressed on the need to have collaboration, be it governmental bodies, healthcare providers, or the public. “We need to work together to make the dream of health for all a reality,” he said.

Call for making Ayushman Bhavah campaign successful
Appreciating the efforts of many healthcare professionals, volunteers and village authorities at the Ayushman Bhavah Mela, Ganesan said “Your knowledge, skills, and passion, and above all, your willingness to serve your fellowmen will make our Ayushman Bhavah campaign successful.”
Our goal is not only to cure diseases but to promote an entire culture of wellness. Our endeavor should be directed towards providing preventive and curative health solutions efficiently, Genesan said adding “Our guiding principle is simple – Prevention is better than cure.”

Let us all pave the path towards a future where Ayushman Bhavah is not just an initiative, but a way of life, the Governor said.

Rio urges citizen to have health card
Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio called upon the citizens of the state to avail the health programmes of the Government of India as well the state and remain healthy.

“We have to be free from all illness, because health is wealth,” he said.  

Rio encouraged the people to go for regular health check- up, adding that early diagnosis and treatment will save many lives.

The Chief Minister also urged upon all the citizens to have health card. Rio said that every citizen should have health insurance and the same is being aggressively pursued.

Rio also called upon everyone to access the package of Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. This is a Government of Nagaland scheme to provide health insurance cover to State Government Employees & Pensioner households, and other households not covered under PM-JAY.

This will be a cashless treatment to all the bonafide citizens, he said.

Further, Rio called upon the people to adopt the habit of cleanliness and positive lifestyle, which would in turn eliminate many diseases.

Stating that many health problems, particularly non communicable diseases are attributed to one lifestyle and food habits, Rio urged everyone to maintain a balance diet and decent lifestyle.

Nagaland wins 4 national awards at Arogya Manthan
Nagaland’s Health & Family Welfare Minister, P Paiwang Konyak informed that “Ayushman Bhavah” campaign, launched by President of India on September 13, is being implemented across the country in mission mode from September 17 and Seva Pakhwada/ Fortnight activities will end on October 2.

Other activities will continue till December 1, he said. 

In Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY), Nagaland has won 4 National Awards in the recently held “Arogya Manthan 2023” in the following categories- Full Utilization of Allocated Fund; Prompt Anti-Fraud Actions, Ayushman Utkrishtata Award 2023 for Best Claim Settlement Performance and for Highest Ayushman Card Generation among Small States.

The project for PHC Botsa was sanctioned under NESIDS in 2021 with a total project cost of Rs 152.30 lakh.

Paiwang thanked the contractor M/s Keduo for timely execution of the project. He also thanked ‘Doctors For You’ with the support from Boeing India for providing critical equipment including one ambulance to the PHC.
