Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president, S Supongmeren Jamir on Friday emphasized on the need for better coordination between job providers and job seekers in the state. This observation was made following their state wide tour.

Sharing the party’s findings, Jamir told media persons that the numbers of unemployed youth could be more than the number of the total registered 78,000 under the Department of Employment.

While observing the wide gap between job seekers and the Employment Exchange office, he viewed that the later should collaborate with the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) and Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) for a groundwork study and assesses the category into which the unemployed youth could be absorbed.

Jamir maintained that the Employment Exchange office had not provided any sort of advertisements with regards to the offers made by different companies. Corroborating his claim, Jamir highlighted how there was zero opportunities offered for unemployed youth by the office between 2021 and 2022. He suggested that the office should bridge the gap by coming up with innovative opportunities for the unemployed youths of the state.

For those NSSB and NPSC aspirants who couldn’t qualify in the interview, Jamir opined that the government should come up with some incentives or avenues for them, as according to him ‘if this trend continues without any avenues, there will be a lot of frustrated unemployed youths.’

Citing the example of Arunachal Pradesh where the CM Pema Khandu has assured an incentive of Rs 20 lakh for three Wushu players of the state, who could not participate in the Asian Games at Hangzou in China, Jamir viewed that such encouragements are also needed for the state representatives from the Nagaland government.

He also acknowledged the contributions made by the 15th Mahila Band of the Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) (IR) band for bringing laurels to the state by showcasing their talents in the reality show of India’s Got Talent.

Meanwhile, in a meeting held with the District Congress Committee (DCC) Kohima today at Congress Bhavan, Jamir said it is the responsibility of all to come together and help find solutions to the existing problems in the state for the welfare of the people.

Emphasising on the need to reach out to the grassroots at the village and ward level, he viewed that the elected representatives should have better relation and coordination with the people cutting across party lines and affiliations.

Highlighting the principle of the Congress party, working president and in-charge of Kohima district, Khriedi Theünuo reminded the gathering of their responsibility handed to them by their founding members.

He said the Congress party has always stood on its founding principles of national outlook with regional contact, and urged the party men and women to remain steadfast on this principle.

Short speeches were also delivered by the 8th Western Angami, 9th Kohima Town, Northern Angami II, 12th Tseminyu, 14th Southern Angami-1 and 15th Southern Angami –II and others.
