Japan International Cooperation Agency team inspects project site at NIMSR

A 17- member team of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is currently in Kohima in connection with setting up of 400 bedded teaching Hospital of Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR), Phriebage, Kohima.

 

 

 

The team today inspected the project site at NIMSR in the presence of Y Kikheto Sema, Commissioner & Secretary for Health &Family Welfare, Nagaland.

JICA survey team maintained that the soil for construction is good enough for high rise building.

The Japanese team comprise of officials from JICA Headquarter led by Rei Sagawa and Hajime Taniguchi, senior representative of JICA India and JICA Survey Team.

They visited Kohima for discussion of the proposed project of setting up of a 400-bedded Teaching Hospital at NIMSR Kohima campus, said Kikheto.

During the two days discussion, it was agreed to include construction of the Teaching Hospital building, provision of equipment and IT&C as well as technical collaboration in health sector.

The final meeting with the JICA representatives was held under the Chairmanship Sema, along with the Principal Director, Dr Vibeituonuo M Sachu, Dr Soumya Chakraborty, Director NIMSR and officials of NIMSR and Directorate of H&FW at NIMSR Conference Hall.

Issues discussed were finalisation of facility planning based on geological survey and feasibility, cost of the project, timeline of project implementation along with formation of Project Management Unit.

The Teaching Hospital building would have 14 levels with a rooftop helipad and all other facilities related to patient care services and teaching facilities. 

The hospital will be equipped with the latest technologies in health care.

Kikheto while appreciating the JICA team for taking up the much-needed project of 400-bedded hospital, also stated that once it is implemented this will be the second JICA project after 60 years of Statehood. 

Sema also stated that the proposed project is expected to be one of the biggest Externally Aided Project in Nagaland.

Kikheto appealed both the team JICA and Medical to work closely in collaboration to complete the project within the stipulated time frame.
