Nagaland BJP celebrates 9th anniversary of Modi government

Nagaland state Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated the 9th anniversary of Modi Government at its head office in Kohima on May 30.

V Kashiho Sangtam, Ex Minister and Member BJP Nagaland, while speaking at the programme said that the Modi Government has always prioritised inclusive development and the Northeast policy always put focus on economic development, internal security while pushing the region to the mainstream. Sangtam mentioned that Modi himself became an ambassador of the cultural heritage of Northeast.

Stating that the state has seen progress and development through Modi’s leadership, Sangtam said in comparison to the UPA governments, funds for the development of Nagaland have been increased four times under the NDA government (2014-present) as compared to the tenure (2004-2014), he added wherein the Fifteenth Finance Commission has given Nagaland a grant of Rs 4,773 crore in 2022-23, which is significantly higher than the Rs 1,283 crore released in 2009-2010.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has in the past years visited the northeast more than 50 times which is more than all previous PMs put together. Sangtam said under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the government has worked towards achieving the goal of three ‘P’s’ in Nagaland which were Peace, Progress and Prosperity.

 “With the development works of rail, road and air routes in the North Eastern states, we are working to bring all the states of North East into the mainstream,” Sangtam pointed out. 

He said that the contentious Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been withdrawn from many parts of Nagaland, including 15 police stations and said that our government is giving major attention to infrastructure related works in Nagaland which has put the state on the right track of progress and development. The BJP is committed to the equitable development of all regions of Nagaland and does not discriminate between regions of the state.  

“Our government is not only committed to the development of Nagaland but we are also sensitive to protect the fundamental rights, culture, heritage and traditions of all tribes and communities,” further added.

Earlier, Kuputo Shohe, Chief Spokesperson BJP Nagaland spoke on behalf of the state BJP President. 

The programme was chaired by Vechita Khesoh, Vice President, BJYM and welcome address was delivered by Nini Cheng, Co Chief Spokesperson. 
The programme was organized by 9 years Modi government public outreach campaign committee.
