Need to ramp up Covid testing, vaccination: CS

DIMAPUR, JUN 27 (NPN) : State chief secretary, J Alam, Saturday emphasised the urgent need to carry out more testing and intensifying vaccination drive across the State.

Interacting with the District Task Forces (DTFs) through video conferencing at COVID War Room, chief secretary’s conference hall, Kohima, Alam urged the districts lagging in testing and vaccination to put a concerted effort in ramping up the testing as well as vaccination in their respective districts.

According to an official bulletin, the chief secretary also took stock of the status on COVID situation in all the districts particularly on testing, vaccination, rural surveillance and their recommendations about the extension of lockdown.

During the video conference, DCs put forth suggestions and recommendations besides highlighting the problems and difficulties faced in the districts in the fight against the virus.

In this regard, the chief secretary assured to take their issues up to the higher authority for consideration.

Further, the chief secretary asked all the DCs to strictly check the attendance of district head of offices and ensure that the responsible officer was in the station for any eventuality. He also lauded the DTFs and encouraged them to work harder in order to contain the virus.

DGP Nagaland, TJ Longkumer, asked all the SPs to be more vigilant and make sure that anti-social activities were not carried out around the vicinity of the hospitals. “Security of the medical staff and patients is very important,” DGP said.

Declaring that DEF Longleng has achieved 100% vaccination, the state police chief gave away citation along with cash prize of Rs. 50,000 in appreciation of their good work.
