‘Village councils important for upholding laws, practices empowered by Constitution’

Nagaland Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse said that village councils plays an important role in upholding the laws and practices as empowered by the Constitution of India.

“In a democratic set-up, village council is an authority, and no other authority can hinder the functioning system,” she said while inaugurating the Kiruphema Bawe village council hall this morning as the special guest.

“People constituted under the village council should bring justice to every citizen with the presence of God,” said Kruse and also encouraged the cultural team of Kiruphema village to keep alive their tradition and culture as Kiruphema is also among the oldest villages with a superior history.

Shaping history in her debut political journey, it may be mentioned that Kruse was born and brought up from Kiruphema village.

With the new council hall in place, she expressed hope that fairness and justice would be uphold at all times by the council members, and set good precedence to the upcoming generation in doing what is right and just.

“I hope this will be a bridge to foster unity, peace, harmony and justice to the denizens,” she later tweeted.

Kruse also thanked the people of the village for their support and cooperation, and solicited their continued support in the near future.

The Kiruphema Bawe Council acknowledged all its well wishers, organizations and village councils for their monetary and kind extended, and Neilhoupra Kinyü’s Thevo Clan for donating the plot for the new council hall.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Kekhrievituo Dahou while the dedicatory prayer was offered Viletuo Vielie, Pastor Kiruphema Baptist Church. A brief report of the village council hall was presented by Neingukholie Vielie, convenor building committee.
